Terms of Service
Last updated: February 20, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of LiveCoder ("the Service"), operated at livecoder.net. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Service Description
LiveCoder is a real-time collaborative code editor designed for conducting technical interviews. The Service allows interviewers to create coding sessions, invite candidates via shareable links, write and edit code collaboratively in real time, execute code, and review past sessions through session replay.
2. Account and Authentication
To use LiveCoder as an interviewer, you must sign in using Google OAuth. By authenticating, you authorize us to access your basic Google profile information (name, email address, and profile picture) for the purpose of creating and managing your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials.
Candidates joining a session via a share link do not need to create an account or authenticate.
3. Code Execution
LiveCoder provides in-browser code execution powered by a sandboxed Piston engine. Each execution runs in an isolated environment with a 15-second timeout. The execution environment supports approximately 20 programming languages. Code execution is provided on an as-is basis, and we do not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or completeness of execution results.
4. Credits and Payment
The Service operates on a credit-based system. One credit is consumed per coding session created. Credits can be purchased through our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy. New accounts may receive a limited number of free credits upon signup.
Credits are non-transferable and non-refundable except as required by applicable law. Unused credits expire 365 days from the date of your most recent credit purchase or grant. Each new purchase resets the expiry window for all credits on the account. Expired credits are forfeited and cannot be restored. Pricing and credit allocations are subject to change with reasonable notice.
5. Data Retention
Session data, including code written during a session and session replay information, is stored for a period of 30 days from session creation. After this period, session data is automatically expired and deleted. You are responsible for exporting or saving any session data you wish to retain before the 30-day window closes.
6. Analytics
We may collect anonymized usage data to improve the Service. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users.
7. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Execute malicious code, including but not limited to viruses, worms, trojans, or any code designed to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
- Perform cryptocurrency mining or any other computationally intensive operations unrelated to the intended use of the Service.
- Abuse, overload, or attempt to circumvent the resource limits of the code execution environment.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any associated system or network.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the servers and networks connected to it.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of any code you write during sessions on LiveCoder. We claim no intellectual property rights over your code or session content. The Service itself, including its design, branding, and underlying technology, remains the intellectual property of LiveCoder.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIVECODER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID TO US IN THE 30 DAYS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
11. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
